The English Patient. I just bought it on VHS (yes, I know) tonight and it
was $2.50 which although was not as cheap as I would've liked (come on,
Goodwill, VHS tapes should be majorly cheap but you are still hanging around
the $2 mark), I bought it with great intentions. I bought a VHS player
during the Summer because I figure that I will not be able to afford the DVD
versions of these masterpieces for a long time in the future. A friend has
decided to give me bit of his VHS collection and now I own Patton and
Wallace & Gromit (classic). I also bought the book Tess of the
D'Urbervilles which
is a good Thomas Hardy classic novel.

I'm excited to have it because I know that as Finals approach (ah, yes,
another semi-splendid semester is over), I will want to watch something I
don't have to pay attn to but will still want to have as background
noise/something of interest. And who can say no to such marvelous actors and
actresses such as Ralph Fiennes, Juliette Binoche, Colin Firth and the
fantastic Kristin Scott Thomas? KST of I've Loved You So Long fame and Ralph
Fiennes who would prefer to have Oscar and Lucinda wiped off his resume.

When this movie, The English Patient, came out in 1996 in November, I was
eight years old and had just moved to the United States about 3 months
before. I do recall hearing about the movie though and for many years after
that, I just assumed it was something that I was never going to see because
it wouldn't live up to my expectations. Little did I know that I would love
it the first time I saw it.

Now if I could just get My Brilliant Career on VHS (or DVD) that would be
top notch because the book was exceptional and Sam Neill as a young man cuts
a striking hero.

i just did this on my DSi. new application called Flipnote, awesome! also, this took forever but there are some cool advanced options that allow you to cut and paste and pretend like it is a movie.

There was this crazy spectacular thing that I could not find a video on but
included a man, a plan, a canal: Panama.
Actually, no it was not Panama but it was really cool. He danced with
himself and this red thing that looks like a onesy but is just one big
fabric thing. They featured it on the Today Show for America's Got Talent or
something like that. It looked like he had a ton of fun lol

neuschwanstein lady painting

I took a lot of photos while at Neuschwanstein Castle in Germany over the
winter break because we (Chelk, Mrs. Plotner and I) were sitting there,
waiting for a tour of the castle on a particularly frozen day with a huge
line of Japanese tourists in front of us. All we could do to stay sane was
park on a cold stone step (until Chelk moved to a frozen bench which was
warmer. I soon followed suit). Well, I took pictures of random people that I
thought would be interesting to either draw or paint as well as photos of
the architecture of the castle. This lady is one such person. I didn't tell
her that I took her photo because she wasn't exactly friendly-looking
(probably just your average person who was cold and not happy about it,
probably) but now she is famous. Because you are looking at her lol.
It's acrylic on watercolor paper. 9 by 12 inches I believe. Titled
"Neuschwanstein Lady." I was going to call it "Cold Ice Lady" but that
appears too harsh when I type it.

I took liberties with it as I have never said I was a realist haha.

I used to watch Postman Pat back in South Africa in the early 1990s? I think
so. My dad's name is Pat so maybe I thought he had something to do with it.
I was but a wee child back then so my memory is a bit fuzzilicious... and by
that I mean, superb. I used to go around saying "Postman Pat, Postman Pat,
Postman Pat and his something something something." I had an excellent
memory as a child and can remember fine details such as the second verses to
songs.

Postman Pat has made a splash all over the world and various countries have
their own version of this show. Apparently HBO shows it in early in the
morning?

One can only imagine the international diplomatic problems that occurred

How can the world let a country deteriorate like this? The inflation rate is
sky high and this country that was so full and called the breadbasket of
Africa has now become the sibling no one acknowledges. But how can be go
back and say that Mugabe was a mistake to help into power? That would be too
terrible, no one can convert that into intelligible speak. Rather, let's
ignore it and see what happens.

Mugabe is old now. The government celebrated his birthday just a few weeks
ago because they could. Nevermind all else that is going on. We will just
have to keep hoping that someone takes it upon themselves to assassinate him
or that he slips while taking a shower. Good for you, for finally agreeing
to allow Tsvangirai to be your PM. Cue clapping hands and bows for peace.
Who cares that it has been almost 10 years since these stupid and
preventable disasters came to light in the public world view but we just
keep on changing the subject. Oh, Octomom, you've had eight children at
once! Glory be!
